County Line Baptist Church

 

County Line Baptist Church was established in 1877 in the southeastern corner of Rankin County, Mississippi. Our church was built in the historical community, known then as “Joe Town”.

 

Joe Town may now only be a memory of it’s once thriving nature, but it’s surviving community, known now, as County Line (found 3 miles west of the town of Puckett) is alive and well.

 

What once was a seedling, one room, Baptist church planted in the fertile soil of Rankin County and nourished by long forgotten pastors like Rev C.C. Burnham, Rev. T. J. Miley and the good people of Joe Town (County Line) has grown into a strong and fruitful vine.

 

That is not to say that this once small community church has not had it’s share of bumps and bruises along the way. It’s members have survived events like the Great Depression, World Wars I and II, and even the terms of 25 American Presidents. Yes, this church has truly weathered many storms.

 

Though our founding fathers have long since sung their final “Sweet Hour of Prayer”, their vision, dedication, and God-fearing faith still reside within the walls and hearts of the members of County Line Baptist Church.
